Step by step
How to use this tool
The Turret tool mounts in a vice and rotates through punches to form SAE double and ISO bubble flares fast. Slide the tube nut on before flaring.
Prep the tube
Cut the end square, chamfer the outside about 0.25mm at 45 degrees, and de-burr the inside.
Mount and open
Clamp the tool in a bench vice, fit the lever, and loosen the clamping screw so the clamp swings open.
Load the die
Using the chart, set the correct die into the cavity with the split line horizontal and the counterbore facing the lever.
Fit the tube
Pass the tube (nut already on) through the die until it is flush with the front face, then close the locking plate and tighten the clamping screw.
Form the flare
Rotate the turret to bring the OP1 punch in line with the tube and pull the lever until you feel solid resistance. For an SAE double flare, rotate to OP2 and pull again.
Release and inspect
Open the clamp and remove the tube (a gentle tap frees the dies). Confirm the flare has not shifted or cracked.
Tip: always practice on a scrap piece of tubing first, and slide the tube nut onto the line before flaring — a finished flare won't pass back through the nut.
