Step by step
How to use this tool
The Pro kit makes SAE double-inverted and ISO / metric bubble flares with precision dies, plus a built-in cutter and reamer. Slide the tube nut on before flaring.
Cut and deburr
Square-cut the tube with the cutter, then ream the inside and chamfer the outside edge.
Slide the nut on
Fit the tube nut first, with the threaded end toward the end of the tube.
Pick the bar and clamp
Choose the SAE or metric flaring bar, set the tube to the correct height, and tighten both wing nuts.
SAE double flare
Fit the black die, place the anvil over it and tighten until it meets the bar, then swap to the cone anvil and turn down to fold the finished flare.
Metric bubble flare
Screw the correct silver anvil head (4.75, 6, 8 or 10mm) onto the yoke, place it over the tube, and tighten until it meets the bar.
Inspect
SAE ends should be bell-shaped and metric ends bubble-shaped. Do not use a flare with cracks or uneven edges.
Tip: always practice on a scrap piece of tubing first, and slide the tube nut onto the line before flaring — a finished flare won't pass back through the nut.
