These standard steel lines flare very well, sometimes the cheaper Chinese lines do not bend or flare well. These had good zink coating and the project went smoothly. No need to buy fancy plastic or copper. . . the coated steel lasts 60 years, is easier to work with, and can take the punishment of salt and grime.
I'm used to working with 1/4 inch brake lines, but this was so easy to use. It bends fairly easy, and flares nicely. I should note I use a hydraulic flare tool, which makes everything easy to flare, and makes it difficult to mess up a flare unless you apply too much pressure.
It really is a very affordable kit and includes everything you need as far as fittings. 3/8x24 (10 included) is very common and it includes 2 of each of the larger sizes. It was enough fittings to make 2 rear brake lines on my bronco 2. I still have about 18 foot of brake line left.
I can't speak of the longevity of the brake lines, it's galvanized, but not coated. I expect to get at least 5 years out of them, though. The tubing isn't any thinner than other brake lines I've had to use.
Overall an excellent value for your money.
Compared to what the part stores now want for brake lines, this is a killer deal.
I have a good tubing flare tool so going this route is the perfect option for me, may buy several kits and just toss-up on the shelf and redo a few vehicles in the yard. These WI roads and their calcium chloride salt consume anything not coated properly in 1 season so those OEM lines go fast up here, part stores sell the painted lines and they don not last, and if you do not get the stickers off those, they rot out trapping saltwater in 1 area quickly.. a friend had a roll of galvanized sitting outside for years, end aimed down and cut as needed, will keep mine inside, and hope they outlast the part store variety...
Love the brake lines. Never made brake lines on a car. But saved my daughter 1500.00 for her car. At least at a Goodyear. Big rip - off do it yourself and take your time I did bleed out the air and replace all fluids. A must.
Received this faster than getting to the auto parts store! Also cheaper than just the tubing alone from there! Several of the fittings came in handy on my "Frankentruck" project!
